A Road Trip With A Good Friend

One thing I cherish more then anything else these days is my relationships with my friends.  My best friend, being Tom Story, who've I've known for many years.
He's married now, with a beautiful daughter and a son on the way.  So we don't get to hang out as much as we used to.
He's also the staff photographer at Sunset, a 100+ year old magazine that covers home, garden, and travel in the western states of the US.  He travels quite a lot on assignment, and sometimes, when his regular assistant is unavailable, I will go along with him.
On this particular weekend, we drove down south to LA along the 101 freeway.  Stopping to photograph a beautiful beach called Point Buchon, near San Lois Obispo.  Unfortunately the path to the beach was closed so we were only able to shoot from the cliffs above.  Not bad though, in the late afternoon sunlight.

When in Los Angeles, we stayed at a cute and hip hotel called the Farmer's Daughter, which I found to be quite comfortable, and rather photogenic.
The following selection of images are from there.  Tom and I, while waiting for dinner (outside patio), messing around taking photographs in the nice evening light.

Just out of curiosity, I just Googled myself, and found some sites worth mentioning:

The Darkened Sector (a great one, in Hungarian...thanks,  Juhaz.)
Las Vegas Weekly (a write-up on my show there lat year)

Thanks for all the good press!

Yee-haw!  Did a shoot on Saturday for Lucky Mule, an Oakland based screenprinting company run by good friend Courtney Callahan.   It couldn't have gone better.  The weather was perfectly warm and sunny.  After doing some catalog shots at Court's studio we headed over to Forbidden Island in Alameda to have a few delicious Polynesian cocktails (the Zombie being my favorite!).  The day ended with a "white trash" themed Ad shoot with mini Weber, hot dogs, beer, punk rock, and two lovely models.
Props to the Alameda cops who drove by twice, and didn't seem to care that we were partying next to an abandoned trailer.

Hey Buddy! You Lose Some Money?!

So I'm walking down the street yesterday morning in SOMA, my belly full of frittata and home fries (having just had brunch with Emily).   Suffering from lack of sleep (crazy fun previous night), and a little preoccupied, lost in my own world.  Pondering.  (I've been doing that a lot lately).
I decide to give Tom a call.
As I cross the intersection of Folsom and 7th, a guy in a car pulls up in the bus stop to the left of me.  I hear a voice....."Hey!  Hey buddy!  Did you lose some money!  Hey!"
I excuse myself from my phone conversation, thinking, WTF?!  Money?  Lose?  Buddy?

The guys yelling to me from his driver side window as I walk up to him.

"Hey, man, did you lose $16?  You dropped this in the alley back there.  It fell out of your pocket as you were walking away!"

He hands me the small wad of cash, that yes, I had absentmindedly tucked into my front pocket earlier in the morning, and apparently had dropped when I pulled out my cell phone.

I'm flabbergasted.  Apparently this good samaritan saw me drop my dough, got in his car, and chased me down to return it.
All I can think to say to him as he drives away, is, "Thanks man, it's good to know there are still good, honest people out there".

Wow, this blog thing is harder then I thought!

I was recently informed by my super special bestest friend Amber, that I MUST add to my blog regularly, in order to keep people coming to it.  This makes sense, in theory, but for someone like myself, who has never been much of a writer, it is a challenge.  Hence my lack of updates.
Well, today is a new day!  And as of this day, I vow to update this blog at least once a week!!  Yeah right.  Wishful thinking.   I'll try.
So....news of late:
Got a cool mention on BOING BOING (A directory Of Wonderful Things), about my current show of images at Progressive Grounds on Cortland Ave in SF.  Jeremy Harris's Asylum Photographs
Also, speaking of shows, I'm showing 12 new images in a group show at the Rite Spot Gallery in SF.   With my good friends Brian Holliday and Will Francis.

Opening reception this Sunday April 6th from 6-9.
Rite Spot Cafe 2099 Folsom Street@17th SF.
